About Me

Our greatest asset is a healthy body, a balanced mind and awakened consciousness. My journey to arriving at these revelatory words of wisdom began as a young college student. While walking home from class one afternoon, I happened upon two books on vegetarianism at a used bookstore, one of which was Francis Moore Lappé's "Diet For A Small Planet".  This book introduced me to a completely different way of looking at food and our relationship to it and prompted me to learn more about healing systems that examine and understand how interconnected our health and well-being are with our diet, surroundings, thoughts, feelings, other people and Spirit, just as everything in the entire universe is interconnected and relational.

My life's unfolding led me to India, where I was introduced to Traditional Indian Medicine (TAM), known as Ayurveda.  My study of Ayurvedic medicine eventually lead me to acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.  In 2008, I graduated from the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Roseville, Minnesota with a Master's of Science in Oriental Medicine (M.S.O.M.)  I subsequently passed the national boards (NCCAOM) for both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology (Diplomate in Oriental Medicine) and am licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practices in Acupuncture (L.Ac.) In addition, I am committed to reframing these ancient healing traditions in a modern context and dedicate a great deal of time researching evidence-based integrative medicine to bring a comprehensive and integrative understanding of health.

After many years of practicing within these traditional medical frameworks, I began to understand that disease and healing were intimately connected to a person's mental and spiritual tendencies.  Healing involves the whole person, and while a cure is mainly directed outward towards the physical manifestation, healing involves a a turning inward into the our innermost self to discover what is keeping us from total wellness and the fullest expression of our humanity. Thus, to complement my professional training with psycho-spiritual understanding, I completed the Living School Program through the Center for Action and Contemplation, Advanced Yoga Teacher Training through the Yoga Institute in Mumbai, India,

and the Benedictine Spiritual Direction Program. My sessions are geared to treating the whole person.

“When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.” ~Herophilus
