900-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training

The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, India. Modern postural yoga, with it's focus on achieving flexibility and strength as a means to health and to destress has become a global phenomenon. However, in it's original context, Yoga is defined as the cessation of the "whirlings of the mind". Physical practice was designed to support the long hours a yogi would spend in meditation training the mind. Yoga without meditation becomes simply another form of exercise. Without downplaying it's benefits as a physical exercise, a comprehensive approach to yoga includes a sound ethical base, breathing exercises, purifying techniques and meditation. My foundational yoga teacher training comes from the oldest Yoga institute in India focusing on self-knowledge through meditation techniques as well as modern postural yoga.
